Nvidia Eyes Potential Deal with South Korean AI Chip Rival
Nvidia Corp., a leader in AI chips, is considering a deal with South Korean startup Rebellions, which has developed neural processing units for AI inference. According to Bloomberg, Nvidia is in early talks with Rebellions on various possibilities, including technical cooperation, investment, or acquisition.
The discussions are at an early stage and may not result in a transaction. Rebellions' CEO Sunghyun Park met with Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang this week at Nvidia's headquarters in Santa Clara. The company has raised over $850 million from investors such as SK Hynix, Samsung Ventures, and Arm Holdings plc.
Rebellions operates in the market seeking to challenge Nvidia's supremacy. Its last valuation was roughly $2.3 billion, making it a notable player in the space. Nvidia has shown a willingness to engage with smaller inference-chip players, including a licensing deal with Groq last year.
