Nvidia Eyes Up to $3B Investment in SoftBank-Backed Data Center Project
Nvidia is in talks to invest up to $3 billion in SoftBank-backed SB Energy as part of its broader financing plan for OpenAI's massive data center project in Ohio.
The proposed investment is part of a deal that could provide around $100 billion in credit support for the data center campus, according to reports. Nvidia has discussed investing half of the $3 billion when the Ohio project deal is signed and the other half as part of SB Energy's planned initial public offering (IPO).
SB Energy aims to go public soon and could raise at least $5 billion in its IPO. The company, which develops large-scale power and data center infrastructure projects, was founded in 2019.
