Nvidia Hotfix Driver Fixes Bugs, But 8-Bit Display Flicker Persists

Nvidia has released a new hotfix driver that resolves three bugs, but it does not address a widespread screen-flickering problem affecting users of 8-bit displays.

The GeForce Hotfix Display Driver 616.86, released on Friday, fixes intermittent flickering in certain browsers when visiting specific websites, as well as two other defects tied to the earlier Game Ready Driver 616.56.

However, the update does not address a persistent monitor flickering issue at 8-bit color depth that has been reported by users since the release of Game Ready Driver 616.56.

Nvidia acknowledged the problem but has yet to provide an over-the-air update to mitigate it.
