Nvidia Injects $3.5 Billion into Chipmaker MediaTek
Nvidia Corp., a leader in graphics processing units (GPUs) and artificial intelligence technologies, has announced a significant investment in Taiwan-based chipmaker MediaTek Inc. The tech giant will invest $3.5 billion into MediaTek by purchasing bonds convertible into shares of the company.
The investment is a deepening of collaboration between Nvidia and MediaTek at a time when they are working to persuade more companies to build chips that plug into Nvidia's dominant data center ecosystem.
