Nvidia Invests $3.5 Billion in Taiwan's MediaTek for Custom Chips
Nvidia has invested $3.5 billion in MediaTek's convertible bonds as part of an expanded partnership.
The Taiwanese designer, MediaTek, will offer NVLink Fusion to customers designing their own AI accelerators.
This includes Nvidia's Fusion chiplet, NVLink-C2C connectivity to Nvidia Rosa CPUs, and NVHBM memory.
Nvidia shares rose 0.27% intraday following the announcement.
The investment 'strengthens a collaboration that spans cloud AI infrastructure, local AI computing,' said MediaTek's vice chairman and CEO, Rick Tsai.
