Nvidia Invests Big in Intel, SpaceX, and CoreWeave
Nvidia, the world's largest chipmaker by market value, has invested billions into three companies: Intel, Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), and CoreWeave. The total investment amounting to around $55 billion is a significant bet for Nvidia.
The company first invested in Intel last year, after the US government took a position in the stock. Nvidia wanted to improve its game with central processing units (CPUs) as it does not have nearly the same presence in this market compared to GPUs, which are widely considered the best available. The partnership between Nvidia and Intel will help both companies benefit from their collaboration.
Nvidia also invested in SpaceX through a funding round for xAI, which was acquired by SpaceX before its IPO. This means that once SpaceX went public, Nvidia automatically became an investor in it. Although it may not be actively involved, the two companies will likely retain a close relationship due to their collaboration on various projects.
The third investment is in CoreWeave, a neocloud company providing AI-focused cloud computing services to its clients. Nvidia invested in this company because it recognizes the growing demand for such services and wants to be involved in that growth. This move suggests that Nvidia has information about long-term demand for CoreWeave's products.
