Nvidia is investing up to $3 billion in Lancium, the developer behind the Stargate data center campus in Texas. The chipmaker will put in an initial $2 billion for a roughly 20% stake in Lancium, which is backed by Blackstone.

Lancium's portfolio of land and power connections has an enterprise value of around $10 billion, according to the report. Nvidia could invest an additional $1 billion if Lancium meets certain thresholds, including grid hookups.

The capital is expected to help Lancium expand its operations as it explores a potential initial public offering in 2027. The Stargate project was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump in January and aims to build data centers with the help of SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle, who plan to invest up to $500 billion.
