Nvidia Invests Billions in Ohio Data Center for OpenAI
Nvidia is investing $1.5 billion in SB Energy, a data center developer backed by SoftBank, to secure up to 8 gigawatts of AI computing capacity at an Ohio campus being built for OpenAI.
The deal marks the latest instance where Nvidia finances its own ecosystem, a strategy that has helped drive demand but also raised concerns about circular flows of funds from chipmaker to customers.
Nvidia has secured land and power at southern Ohio's PORTS-Pike Technology Campus for an AI data center with an initial capacity of 4.25 GW, using its graphics processors and networking gear.
