Nvidia Invests Billions in Taiwan Chipmaker MediaTek
Nvidia has made a significant investment in Taiwan's MediaTek, a leading chipmaker in the AI industry. The US-based company is investing $3.5 billion in MediaTek as part of its record-breaking $3.9 billion overseas convertible bond offering.
The deal follows Nvidia's recent agreement to guarantee up to $105 billion for OpenAI's Ohio data-center lease, and may raise questions about the chipmaker's growing financial ties with companies that help drive demand for its AI products.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang dismissed concerns of circularity, saying 'This is not circular because obviously they do their own business and we do our own business.'
