Nvidia has invested $3.5 billion in Taiwan's MediaTek through convertible bonds, buying approximately 90% of the $3.9 billion offering.

The deal marks a significant expansion of their existing partnership, which includes collaborations on PCs, automotive software, and data centers.

MediaTek will adopt Nvidia's NVLink Fusion interconnect platform, allowing them to design semi-custom AI accelerators that still plug directly into Nvidia's rack-scale AI systems.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang previously explained the purpose of NVLink Fusion as enabling customers to build semi-custom AI infrastructure, not just semi-custom chips, giving them access to Nvidia's ecosystem.
