Nvidia Licenses Poolside AI Model-Development Software for $6B
Nvidia has made another significant move in its pursuit of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. The company will pay $6 billion to license Poolside's AI model-development software, Model Factory.
The deal also includes Nvidia investing $1 billion in Poolside at a pre-money valuation of $12 billion. Notably, the three co-founders of Poolside will remain with the company.
Nvidia has been expanding its capabilities in open-source models and has become a major developer in this area. The acquisition is not an attempt to acquire or hire talent, according to Nvidia, but rather a strategic move to gain access to advanced technology.
This is not the first time Nvidia has made a significant investment in AI technology. In December 2025, the company acquired Groq, and earlier this year, it spent over $900 million to license Enfabrica's technology and hire its CEO and employees.
