Nvidia Locks In $35B Cloud Computing Deal with Anthropic
Nvidia has signed a massive cloud-computing agreement with Anthropic, worth $35 billion. This deal will power a new data center in Texas, and marks an expansion of Nvidia's influence over AI infrastructure.
The project represents 350 megawatts of capacity and is being developed by Hut 8, which has shifted from cryptocurrency mining to high-performance computing and AI infrastructure. The agreement centers on a data center under development in Nueces County, Texas, and places Nvidia in an unusually prominent role across several layers of the transaction.
Nvidia will provide the chips powering the facility while also holding the lease on the underlying data center. Lambda, an AI cloud provider backed by Nvidia, will provide the computing capacity to Anthropic. This deal is a result of Nvidia's financing model, which helps AI cloud companies acquire infrastructure through credit support and revenue-sharing arrangements.
