Nvidia Manager Indicted in Taiwan Chip Smuggling Case
Taiwanese prosecutors have indicted a senior manager at Nvidia Corp., named Chang, as part of a group accused of smuggling advanced AI chips into China. The alleged smuggling operation involved the shipment of 74 servers containing high-end B300 chips into China via Japan and Indonesia, bypassing US trade restrictions.
The indictment marks Taiwan's first known crackdown on the black-market trade of such accelerators. Nvidia's employee, Chang, is among nine individuals accused in the case. Bloomberg was unable to reach him after he was initially detained last month.
