Nvidia and Intel, two prominent tech companies, have seen significant changes in their market value over the past year. Nvidia's market value has grown by about 24% to $5.4 trillion as of this writing.

Intel's market value, on the other hand, has surged by around 474%, reaching roughly $510 billion. This growth can be attributed to both a higher stock price and an increase in the number of shares outstanding.

The majority of Intel's gain came from its share count, which grew by about one-sixth over the past year. Much of this new stock was issued to the U.S. government under the company's CHIPS Act agreement.

Nvidia's market value growth is more closely tied to its earnings. The chipmaker earned around $159.6 billion in trailing-12-month earnings, more than double the previous year's figure, on $253 billion of revenue. This growth has led to a lower price-to-earnings ratio for Nvidia, sitting near 34.
