Nvidia Offers GPUs at Original Launch Prices at QuakeCon
Nvidia is making a bold move at QuakeCon to tackle the absurd prices of its graphics cards. The company has brought a truckload of GPUs, including the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090, to the event with prices set at their launch rates: $999 for the RTX 5080 and $1,999 for the RTX 5090.
These prices are significantly lower than what you'd expect to pay on the market, where an RTX 5090 can easily exceed $4,000. Nvidia is taking a bold stance by acknowledging that the current pricing of its GPUs is unreasonable and is offering buyers a chance to purchase them at their original MSRP.
The Verified Priority Access program, which allows customers to buy GPUs directly from Nvidia, has been revived for this event. This program was first introduced in 2022 as a way to prevent resellers from snapping up GPUs at launch.
Nvidia is also offering other perks and swag at the event, including giveaways of GeForce Trading Cards, which attendees can collect by trading with others. The company will also be hosting PC modding competitions where participants can win RTX 50-series graphics cards.
