Nvidia Pauses Revenue-Sharing Program Amid Antitrust Concerns
Nvidia has paused parts of its revenue-sharing program for AI cloud companies buying its chips. The program, launched in July, allows Nvidia to extend credit and take a cut of what those chips later earn.
The pause comes after internal objections raised concerns about antitrust scrutiny and how far Nvidia could dictate business operations to customers. Employees had been restricting which parties could lease the chips and preferred capacity to be spread across multiple smaller AI firms rather than one large customer.
Nvidia did not confirm or dispute the report but stated that its new business model is still in place and continues to evolve due to high demand. The company has been building this apparatus for a while, offering startups compute on deferred payment terms and assembling a $500bn financing platform with six large financial institutions behind it.
