Nvidia Pours Billions into Perplexity AI
Nvidia is in talks to invest in Perplexity as part of an equity funding round that would value the AI startup at more than $30 billion, according to The Information. This valuation would be a significant increase from its previous financing last year, which valued it at less than half this amount.
Perplexity's annualized revenue has risen to over $750 million, up from under $250 million at the start of the year, driven in part by its cloud-based AI agent used by professionals to automate computer-based tasks. The startup declined to comment on the report, while Nvidia did not immediately respond.
The funding round would also make Perplexity one of the most valuable private AI startups. Its high-profile backers include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Japan's SoftBank Group. Regardless of how the market receives this investment, Perplexity is planning to go public in 2028.
