SpaceX and Nvidia have partnered to design an orbital AI data center called Starmind. The first satellite, named Starmind AI1, will utilize Nvidia's Vera Rubin architecture.

The partnership was announced by SpaceX CEO Elon Musk during the company's Q2 earnings call. He stated that SpaceX would exclusively use Nvidia AI architecture moving forward and that the Vera Rubin design is 'the best architecture' for their needs.

Starmind aims to maximize power efficiency by harnessing solar energy, which is more abundant in space than on Earth. Musk noted that this will allow them to reduce compute costs.
