Nvidia Powers Up Lancium's Data Center Empire with Strategic Investment
Nvidia has made a strategic investment in Lancium, a data center firm that specializes in powering land for large-scale AI computing. The deal will see Nvidia's hardware deployed across Lancium's campuses, which currently represent 4GW of leased capacity and have a development pipeline exceeding 15GW of powered land.
Lancium was founded in 2017 as a cryptomining firm, but has since shifted its focus to developing large sites called Clean Campuses. The company uses excess capacity at renewable energy sites like wind farms to power crypto and high-performance computing hardware. With the investment from Nvidia, Lancium will use the DSX reference designs, which include DSX MaxLPS to increase GPU density by up to 40% within the same power budget.
Nvidia's vice president of global AI infrastructure growth, Nico Caprez, said that 'AI factories are the essential infrastructure of this new industrial era.' He added that the partnership with Lancium will enable a new generation of gigawatt-scale, power-ready AI factories. The deal is seen as a strategic move by Nvidia to expand its presence in the data center market and support the growing demand for AI computing.
