Nvidia Pumps Billions into AI Ecosystem Partners
Nvidia's latest quarter has left the company with a significant amount of spare cash to invest in its chosen AI ecosystem partners. The Taiwanese chipmaker, MediaTek, is one such partner that has benefited from Nvidia's generosity, receiving $3.5 billion as part of their collaboration.
The investment is a result of Nvidia's NVLink Fusion Platform, launched last year, which enables the creation of custom AI infrastructure using Nvidia GPUs. This move is crucial for Nvidia as it needs to maintain its dominance in the AI computing market, particularly with the shift from training to inference.
Nvidia and MediaTek will collaborate on local AI processing in PCs and vehicles, in addition to their work on cloud AI infrastructure. The two companies aim to create platforms that bring Nvidia accelerated computing to new markets, giving customers the freedom to create differentiated AI systems at scale.
