Nvidia Replaces Apple as Largest Holding in Vanguard S&P 500 ETF
Nvidia has surpassed Apple as the largest holding in the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF, according to the latest data from June. The tech giant now accounts for 7.50% of the fund's assets, surpassing Apple at 6.58%. This shift happened just two years ago, with Nvidia passing Apple's market value on June 5, 2024.
The top five holdings in the fund add up to nearly a quarter of its $1.05 trillion in assets, with Nvidia and Apple leading the way. Microsoft, Amazon, and Alphabet follow closely behind, making up the largest positions in the fund.
Despite the concentration of these large-cap stocks, index funds like the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF remain a popular choice for investors seeking broad market exposure. The fund's design self-corrects by thinning out the top holdings on the way down without requiring manual intervention.
