Nvidia Retains Top Spot as Alphabet Struggles to Catch Up
Alphabet, the world's third-largest company with a market cap of around $4 trillion, is making strides in the AI race and its cloud computing platform, Google Cloud. The latter saw an impressive 82% growth during the second quarter, outperforming its peers in the big three cloud providers.
This progress has led Wall Street analysts to project 24% growth for Alphabet in 2026 and 23% growth in 2027. However, despite these strong projections, some investors are questioning whether Alphabet can overtake Nvidia, the largest company with a market cap of around $5.4 trillion.
Nvidia's growth rate is expected to reach 70% next year, which would take Alphabet three years to match. With Nvidia already having a significant head start and trading at similar valuation multiples as Alphabet, it seems unlikely that Alphabet can catch up.
