Nvidia RTX 5090 Price Skyrockets to $5,000 Amidst Global GPU Shortage
The Nvidia RTX 5090 gaming GPU has seen an astronomical price surge in less than two years. Initially announced at CES last year for $1,999, it now costs a staggering $5,000 in North America and even more elsewhere.
Other top-end Nvidia GPUs have also experienced drastic hikes, with the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB seeing an increase of up to 77% compared to its MSRP. The least affected card is the base model RTX 5050, which has seen a 20% price hike.
The price jump can be attributed to the dwindling supply of vital components being diverted to enterprise customers for massive AI buildouts. This has resulted in a 500% increase in RAM prices over the last year and has made DIY PC building increasingly less viable.
