Nvidia RTX Spark Shines in Geekbench Tests Despite Single-Core Shortfalls
Nvidia's upcoming RTX Spark laptop superchip has shown up on Geekbench listings, revealing two variants of the chip - one with 20 cores and another with 18 cores. The full-fat 20-core model achieved a score of 2,570 in the single-core test and 23,126 points in the multi-core test, while the cut-down 18-core variant scored 2,541 points in the single-core test and 21,776 points in the multi-core test.
The multi-core numbers from both variants are among the best on the Geekbench database, but they fall short of the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme's record score of 25,075 points. However, when compared to other Windows-running SoCs, the RTX Spark shows a strong performance, beating the AMD AI Max+ 395 by about 5.6% and the Apple M3 Max (14-core) by about 12%. The full-fat 20-core variant is even expected to beat the base M4 Pro and maxed-out M4 Max when it officially launches.
On the other hand, the single-core performance of the RTX Spark falls short of Apple's lineup, with every chip from the base M3 onwards beating the 20-core RTX Spark's score. The 18-core variant is even slower than some Intel and AMD chips in this test.
