Nvidia Scoops Up Hugging Face for Record-Breaking $12.93 Billion
Nvidia has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12.93 billion, expanding its reach into the open AI ecosystem.
The acquisition is a strategic move by Nvidia to become a major player in the development and deployment of AI models, datasets, and applications.
Hugging Face operates a widely used platform where developers and researchers publish, evaluate, and deploy AI models and supporting resources. The platform hosts over 3 million models, 500,000 datasets, and 1 million applications, with more than 18 million users.
Nvidia Chief Executive Jensen Huang announced the transaction on September 3. He emphasized that Hugging Face will remain open to models and tools from across the industry, and developers will continue to choose their preferred models, frameworks, clouds, inference providers, and computing platforms.
