Nvidia Sees Opportunity in Latin America Amid China Sales Curbs
Nvidia's Enterprise division director for Latin America, Marcio Aguiar, says that restrictions on selling graphics processing units (GPUs) to Chinese companies inside China have opened up opportunities in the region.
Due to geopolitical and legal constraints, Nvidia is barred from selling its processors to Chinese companies within China. However, it can supply certain technology families to those same companies when they operate outside the country, Aguiar explained.
Nvidia reported record revenue of $96.2 billion in the second quarter of fiscal 2027, with a 75% gross margin. The company's data center division brought in $89 billion, with a 117% increase from the previous year. Despite some initial volatility on Wall Street, the market reacted positively to the numbers, with Nvidia's shares jumping as much as 7% and adding over $440 billion in market value.
