Nvidia Shares Get Boost as TSMC Reports Record AI Chip Demand
Nvidia has experienced significant growth in the artificial intelligence (AI) market, becoming the world's largest AI chip designer and generating record earnings. The company's revenue topped $96 billion in the latest quarter, with net income reaching $59 billion.
The majority of Nvidia's total revenue comes from data center sales, which makes up more than 90%. Investors have been worried about a potential AI slowdown, but recent statements from cloud giants such as Amazon and Alphabet suggest strong demand for AI chips.
TSMC, the manufacturer of Nvidia's chips, reported record revenue for August, driven by demand for AI chips. Revenue of more than $16 billion represented an increase of 53% year-over-year and 10% from July. This reinforces TSMC's ongoing message in recent quarters: AI demand remains consistently high.
This momentum offers Nvidia shareholders reason for optimism regarding the company's growth in this period. The company has also announced its offer to acquire AI open-source platform Hugging Face, further expanding its presence in the AI market.
