Nvidia Stock Slumps Amid Calls for AI Model Slowdown
Nvidia's stock is facing pressure due to calls from top AI figures, including Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and Dario Amodei, urging a slowdown in AI model development. This comes as the company's stock has slumped for five consecutive days to its lowest level since September 2.
The scrutiny affects Nvidia because of its significant investments in the AI sector and its role as one of OpenAI's biggest shareholders. Dario Amodei, co-founder of Anthropic, stated that 'We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models.' This warning comes after an employee of Anthropic resigned, predicting human extinction by 2030 due to unchecked growth.
Analysts remain optimistic about Nvidia's shares, with a consensus target among analysts being $324, despite technical bearish signals and risks of dropping to $200. The company has also formed a cup-and-handle pattern and remained above the 50-day and 100-day Exponential Moving Averages (EMA).
