NVIDIA Corp.'s (NASDAQ:NVDA) stock took a slight hit in Thursday's premarket trading due to concerns over a U.S. antitrust probe.

The Justice Department has launched an investigation into NVIDIA's deal with AI chip startup Groq, which was announced in December. The inquiry is focused on whether the arrangement allowed NVIDIA to sidestep regulatory review by structuring it as a nonexclusive licensing agreement rather than a conventional acquisition.

Groq CEO Jonathan Ross and COO Sunny Madra joined NVIDIA under this deal. The Justice Department reportedly began examining the arrangement soon after its announcement and later issued NVIDIA a formal request for information.
