Nvidia Surges Ahead of AI Infrastructure Rivals in 2027
Nvidia is a semiconductor company that has been at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure for years. As such, it's no surprise that Nvidia is considered the top pick in the sector by veteran analyst Micah Zimmerman.
The company's data center sales have grown significantly, reaching $75.2 billion in the first quarter of fiscal 2027, a staggering 93% increase year-over-year and accounting for more than 90% of its total revenue. This growth is largely driven by major customers such as Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Amazon, and Alphabet, which rely heavily on Nvidia's systems to expand their AI clusters.
Nvidia's hardware has evolved beyond single chips, with the introduction of custom chip processes like Blackwell GPUs that pack around 208 billion transistors. These GPUs are then integrated into larger systems like GB200 and GB300, which connect multiple components into unified AI racks. The company also offers a range of software tools, including CUDA, Nvidia AI Enterprise, and others.
Nvidia's dominance in the AI infrastructure market is not limited to its technology alone. The company has partnered with major financial institutions like BlackRock, Blackstone, Goldman Sachs, and others to mobilize over $500 billion in capital to finance AI infrastructure projects. This access to capital, combined with steady demand and pricing power, makes Nvidia an attractive investment opportunity.
