Nvidia Surpasses $20 Billion in SpaceX Holdings Following xAI Investment
Nvidia's investment in AI startup xAI has led to an unexpected position in Elon Musk's space venture, SpaceX. The graphics processing unit (GPU) giant owns 122.8 million shares of SpaceX, valued at approximately $21 billion as of the end of the second quarter of 2026.
This stake was acquired through Nvidia's $10 billion investment in xAI in January. At that time, xAI was a separate company, but it later merged with SpaceX. As a result, Nvidia became one of the largest holders of SpaceX shares, ranking sixth among the biggest investors by volume.
The value of SpaceX shares has fluctuated since its acquisition by xAI and subsequent merger with SpaceX. In February, SpaceX acquired xAI in a $1.25 trillion deal, and in June, the company began trading on the U.S. stock market. As of Friday's close, SpaceX shares were worth $140, compared to $170.86 at the end of June.
