Nvidia Surpasses Apple as Largest Company, But Is Its Valuation Justified?
The three largest companies in the world are Nvidia, Apple, and Alphabet, with market caps of $5.4 trillion, $4.6 trillion, and $4 trillion respectively. Nvidia's growth rate is expected to continue its upward trend, widening the gap between it and other companies.
Alphabet, on the other hand, has a strong growth case due to its investments in AI and cloud computing. Its revenue from Google Cloud skyrocketed 82% last quarter, and Wall Street projects 23% growth for 2027. Alphabet's operating price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio is lower than Apple's, making it a more attractive investment option.
Apple's growth case is less certain due to its reliance on selling tech hardware to consumers, which may be affected by rising component prices and increasing competition from other manufacturers. Its premium valuation doesn't make sense given its slower expected growth rate of 10% for 2027 compared to Nvidia's 70% revenue growth next year.
