Nvidia Takes Aim at 'Stargate' Power Bottleneck with $3B Lancium Investment

Nvidia is taking a significant step into the AI infrastructure ecosystem by investing up to $3 billion in Lancium, a power infrastructure developer backed by Blackstone. This investment gives Nvidia around 20% equity stake and could rise to about 30% if further milestones are met.

The deal values Lancium at an enterprise value of around $10 billion, including debt. The initial $2 billion investment will give Nvidia direct access to several gigawatts of power resources, which is a critical bottleneck for AI data centers.

Lancium is the provider behind the 'Stargate' AI campus that OpenAI and Oracle are building in Abilene, Texas. It has already locked in 4 gigawatts of power on the Texas grid, with another 15 gigawatts pending approval.
