Nvidia Tunes Up DLSS 5 Plans, Eyes Expansion to RTX GeForce 40 Series
Nvidia's DLSS 5 technology has been making waves in the gaming community since its launch with NBA 2K27. The tech is currently exclusive to RTX GeForce 50 Series cards, but Nvidia plans to bring it to 40 Series cards in the future.
Ben Berraondo, senior director of global PR at Nvidia, stated that the company's current focus is on optimizing performance for the 50 Series, with model updates expected later this fall. Once the 50 Series performance is 'more fully tuned', they plan to work on expanding official support to the 40 Series.
Berraondo also shared impressive statistics about the progress made in DLSS 5 optimization over the past six months. He mentioned that what was possible with two RTX 5090 cards in March is now achievable across all 50 Series and getting faster, representing a 'more than 5X leap'.
DLSS 5 has faced criticism for significant performance drops, with some reports showing a reduction of up to 73% on an RTX 5080 rig. However, Nvidia maintains that the tech can be fine-tuned by developers and does not change artistic intent.
