Nvidia Unleashes Server CPU Ambition in Bid to Shake Up Industry
Nvidia is poised to make significant inroads into the server CPU market, which has long been dominated by Intel and AMD.
The company's GPUs have historically accounted for more than 90% of the market share for advanced graphics processing units used in AI applications.
However, Nvidia has not had a strong presence in the CPU market until now. The company is set to release its Vera family of CPUs, which will compete directly with Intel and AMD's offerings.
Nvidia's Grace family of CPUs has already generated $5 billion in sales over the past year, and the company projects that data center CPU revenue will more than double from this fiscal year to the next.
