Nvidia Unveils $500 Billion Financing Plan for AI Infrastructure
Nvidia has signed memorandums of understanding with six major investment firms to establish independent financing platforms for AI infrastructure. The goal is to mobilize over $500 billion in third-party capital.
The plan is designed to allow lenders to treat computing hardware like a revenue-generating asset, such as buildings or toll roads, that can secure debt.
Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang described this as 'the first time technology chips have become an investable asset class.'
This financing model is 20 times larger than the telecom bubble of the late 1990s, which ultimately collapsed and left many suppliers with significant losses. In that era, equipment vendors lent money to their customers, who then struggled to pay back the loans when demand for equipment plummeted.
