Nvidia Unveils $500 Billion Plan to Fund Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure
Nvidia is planning to raise up to $500 billion in financing for artificial intelligence infrastructure through a new funding structure. The chipmaker has partnered with six major financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs, which will play a central role in the deal.
Goldman Sachs' asset management division may provide junior capital and private credit, while its investment bank can place debt instruments with private credit funds and later in public debt markets. The bank's long-term relationship with Nvidia has given it an important position in the deal.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang explained that the financing is intended to support the gradual rollout of artificial intelligence infrastructure. Goldman Sachs Research analysts estimate that the artificial intelligence industry's financing needs are enormous, with the four largest hyperscalers planning to spend more than $5 trillion on technology and data centers by 2030.
The proposed model differs from previous AI infrastructure financing deals, which relied heavily on supplier guarantees. Instead, Nvidia could provide support of up to $125 billion, or 25% of potential deals, and create a market for assets backed by AI computing capacity.
