Nvidia Unveils Next-Gen Handheld Chips Amid Growing Competition

Nvidia has confirmed two new chip designs, N2X and N3X, as successors to its RTX Spark platform. The news was revealed by CEO Jensen Huang during a Computex 2026 briefing in Taipei.

Huang framed the early confirmation as a statement of intent rather than a product announcement. He emphasized Nvidia's commitment to expanding its family of consumer Arm chips for years, comparing it to a long-running product line.

The N2X and N3X chips will be built on the same architecture as the existing RTX Spark chip, but no specifications or release windows have been shared yet. The confirmation comes after Intel unveiled its own dedicated handheld chips, the Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme, which are designed to challenge AMD's Ryzen Z2 Extreme in the growing handheld gaming PC category.

Nvidia currently has no shipping handheld chip and no announced plan to build one, but confirming a two-generation roadmap before the first RTX Spark devices have fully reached store shelves is seen as a strong signal from a company positioning itself for a fight it hasn't formally entered.
