Nvidia Unveils Open-Source PAIR Tool for Home Network AI Tasks
Nvidia has unveiled PAIR (Personal AI Router), an open-source tool that allows home networks to function like mini data centers for local AI tasks. The technology automatically spreads requests across available devices, reducing wait times for parallel agent tasks.
PAIR sits between existing tools and computers on the network, acting as a virtual router. It forwards requests to free machines and pulls results back together for the calling application, rather than overloading a single GPU.
The tool supports Nvidia's GeForce RTX cards from the 20 series and up, RTX Pro workstations, DGX Spark, and Apple silicon starting with the M4.
Nvidia claims that PAIR can significantly improve performance for AI tasks. In a demo, a three-device cluster finished a task in just under 9 minutes, compared to 18 minutes on a single laptop.
