Nvidia vs Micron: Which Semiconductor Stock Will Dominate the AI Market?
Nvidia and Micron are two of the leading players in the artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor market. While Nvidia is known for its graphics processing units (GPUs), it also supplies CPUs, networking components, optical components, and software.
Micron, on the other hand, dominates the world's DRAM and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) production, along with SK Hynix and Samsung. However, Micron's growth prospects may be sharper in the short term due to the current memory shortage.
Nvidia has been positioning itself as a critical supplier across the entire AI supply chain through its partnerships with companies like Marvell Technology, Coherent, Lumentum, Nokia, Nebius, and CoreWeave. These relationships enable Nvidia to provide CPUs, DPUs, switches, optics, and software layers that complement custom chips.
While Micron's boom may be narrower than Nvidia's due to the limited timeframe of the memory supercycle, Nvidia is better positioned for the long term as it benefits from incrementally greater GPU adoption in emerging markets like autonomous vehicles, robotics, and agentic AI.
