NVIDIA Wins Big in Egypt as US Outpaces China in Africa AI Race
The US has taken a significant leap in its AI race to Africa as Egypt announces a $1 billion deal with NVIDIA, the world's most valuable company. The plan is to build a massive-scale AI data center, using technology from NVIDIA. This development was announced by Raafat Hindi, the country's Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
The project, worth $200 million in its first three-year phase, will boast a 20-megawatt facility. It is being executed by Vodafone Business in collaboration with Elsewedy Electric and Cassava Technologies, which serves as Nvidia's primary strategic partner within Africa. The facility will use NVIDIA's accelerated computing technologies to support its operations.
This move comes as the global battle for artificial intelligence dominance between the US and China is shifting deeper into Africa. As the report indicates, NVIDIA seems to be a key beneficiary of this AI play.
