Nvidia's $21B Stake in SpaceX Reveals AI Industry Ties

Nvidia has revealed that it holds a $21 billion stake in SpaceX through its earlier investment in xAI, which was merged with SpaceX by Elon Musk. The chipmaker owns approximately 123 million shares of SpaceX, which have already lost about $4 billion in value since the company's IPO in June.

The significant financial ties between Nvidia and SpaceX are part of a broader pattern, as Nvidia has committed over $100 billion to AI companies in the past two years. This includes investments in CoreWeave, Thinking Machines, and Safe Superintelligence.

A separate issue concerns the lunar disposal policy, after a Falcon 9 upper stage that had been drifting uncontrolled since January 2025 crashed into the lunar surface at 8,700 km/h.
