Nvidia's AI Surge Meets Alphabet's Vertical Integration
NVIDIA and Alphabet reported recent quarters that have significant implications for AI leadership. NVIDIA's Data Center segment saw a huge surge, reaching $75.25 billion in revenue, up 92%. This growth was driven by demand for InfiniBand, NVLink, and Spectrum-X. Jensen Huang noted that 'The buildout of AI factories, the largest infrastructure expansion in human history, is accelerating at extraordinary speed.' The company's guidance for Q2 stands at $91 billion, excluding China Data Center compute revenue.
Alphabet's results also showed strong growth, with Google Cloud reaching $24.77 billion, up 82%. Sundar Pichai emphasized adoption, stating that 'Nearly 90% of the Fortune 100 using it' refers to Gemini Enterprise. The company is integrating its own TPUs into its infrastructure.
NVIDIA and Alphabet have different business models, with NVIDIA selling compute and Alphabet building on it while also buying it. Alphabet's pitch for its vertically optimized AI stack includes 'We're unique in the market because of our vertically optimized AI stack.'
