Nvidia's upcoming earnings report on August 26 will likely be closely watched after AMD and SanDisk set high bars for themselves in their recent reports. Despite delivering earnings beats, both AMD and SanDisk saw their stocks fall.

AMD posted record revenue of 50% year-over-year growth, with data center revenue more than doubling. Its CEO Lisa Su expects 'Data Center sales to accelerate in the second half of 2026.' However, guidance for the current quarter fell short of 'whisper' expectations, causing AMD's shares to initially fall by over 8%, and remaining down by a similar amount days later.

SanDisk's earnings report was similar. Its EPS beat consensus by more than 12%, revenue grew by a whopping 372% year-over-year, and gross margins held at 78%. Despite this, shares fell roughly 10% due to guidance for the coming quarter being slightly below expectations.

Nvidia will face high investor expectations when it reports its Q2 fiscal 2027 revenue. The company guided revenue to approximately $91 billion, marking an 11.5% sequential increase and roughly 80% annual growth.
