Nvidia's Data Center Growth Accelerates as New Customer Class Emerges
Nvidia's recent earnings report revealed that its largest data center customers are no longer just public cloud providers like Amazon, Microsoft, and Google. While these hyperscalers still account for a significant portion of Nvidia's GPU sales, a new category is emerging as the fastest-growing segment.
The ACIE (AI Clouds, Industrial, and Enterprise) group generated $40.3 billion in revenue during the second quarter, an increase of 25% from last quarter and 138% year over year. This growth rate far exceeds that of hyperscalers, which grew by 13% sequentially and 102% year over year.
Nvidia's data center revenue reached $89 billion during the quarter, up 18% from the prior quarter and 117% year over year. The company's AI Clouds, Industrial, and Enterprise group consists of AI natives, enterprises, sovereign customers, and specialist clouds that sit between hyperscalers and traditional data centers.
This shift in growth rates suggests that Nvidia's customer base is expanding beyond just the hyperscalers. As more companies adopt AI technologies for production use cases, rather than just platform differentiators, demand for Nvidia's systems will continue to grow.
