Nvidia's DLSS 5 Support Coming to Older Graphics Cards, But Don't Expect a Speed Boost
Nvidia's DLSS 5 neural rendering technology has made its official debut in NBA 2K27, but it is currently only supported on current-generation RTX 5000 graphics cards.
An Nvidia employee on the company's forums revealed that support for older RTX 40 series graphics cards will be added at some point in the future, but no specific timeline was provided.
The focus, at least for now, is on optimizing performance for the GeForce RTX 50 Series before expanding support to the GeForce RTX 40 Series.
Nvidia's employee noted that once the RTX 50 Series performance is more fully tuned, work will begin on expanding official support to the GeForce RTX 40 Series.
In testing DLSS 5 on an RTX 5090, IGN's Senior Tech Editor Jackie Thomas experienced a massive 43% performance drop from around 57-60 fps to around 37 fps.
