Nvidia's Dominance Set to Continue Through 2028
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) and AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) hold a near-duopoly in discrete GPUs. Nvidia controlled 90% of the market in Q2 2026, while AMD held an 8% share.
Nvidia's biggest advantages against AMD are its more powerful, efficient, and energy-efficient GPUs. These are key benefits for training massive AI models, especially when linked with other GPUs via NVLink interconnect technology.
AMD's GPUs, on the other hand, are cheaper and often have higher memory bandwidth than Nvidia's. However, they're better suited for AI inference tasks rather than training.
