Nvidia's Graphics Card Prices Skyrocket Amid Memory Demand Surge
Nvidia's price increases for its graphics cards have gone into effect, and they're hitting mid-range models particularly hard. The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti, which was once a budget-friendly option, is now over $800. According to Tom's Hardware, the median prices for most Nvidia GPUs are higher than they were just a few months ago.
The biggest price jumps have been seen in the mid-range segment, with the RTX 5070 and RTX 5060 Ti experiencing significant increases. The median price of the RTX 5070 has risen to $899, up 36% from its June median price of $659. Meanwhile, the RTX 5060 Ti's price has jumped by 39%, reaching $804.99.
These new prices are not just a minor adjustment; they represent a significant increase over the original MSRP. The RTX 5070 was supposed to launch at $499, and the RTX 5060 Ti was set to debut at $429. Now, both GPUs are more than 50% pricier.
Industry experts attribute these price hikes to increased demand for memory from AI applications. With all three major memory manufacturers reportedly selling out of their 2027 production capacity, it's unclear when prices will stabilize.
