Nvidia's Graphics Cards Get Pricier Amid Rising Memory Costs

Nvidia's high-end graphics cards are getting pricier due to rising memory prices. The company is passing on the cost increase to its partners, resulting in significant price hikes for graphics cards from various manufacturers. MSI is the latest to announce a 20% or more price increase for its Nvidia GPUs in China, with other companies likely to follow suit.

Nvidia has introduced 'Verified Priority Access' for gamers attending QuakeCon in Texas, allowing them to purchase RTX 5070, 5080, and 5090 Founders Edition graphics cards at the intended MSRP. However, supplies are limited and will likely sell out quickly.

The price increase is due to Nvidia's rising video RAM module costs, which it passes on to its partners. This affects not only current-gen Nvidia GeForce graphics cards but also RTX 4000 and 3000 models. Other regions, including South Korea, may see similar price hikes of up to 30%.
