Nvidia's Revenue Forecast Sparks Market Rally Amid AI Infrastructure Concerns
Nvidia's strong revenue forecast has lifted investor concerns about AI infrastructure spending. The company expects to grow revenue by approximately 70% in fiscal 2028, with a target of $108 billion (plus or minus 2%) for the current quarter.
This outlook has driven up Nvidia's stock price, jumping over 5% after-hours on Wednesday. The semiconductor sector as a whole is also seeing gains, with the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (SMH) and iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX) rising about 2.5% after-hours, tracking Nvidia's performance.
The broader market has been mixed, with the S&P 500 ending flat on Wednesday, while the Nasdaq 100 gained 0.1% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 0.2%. However, futures quickly rose as Nvidia's revenue forecast calmed investor concerns about AI infrastructure spending getting ahead of itself.
Meta Platforms (META) has also made headlines, finalizing an agreement to pay up to $17.1 billion and make major changes to its products following claims it endangered children with addictive social media platforms.
